at Magic City Classic
During my time at Knight Eady, Shipt approached us to create an on-site activation experience for the Birmingham Magic City Classic, an annual football game held in Birmingham, Alabama, between Alabama A&M University and Alabama State University. The Magic City Classic also includes a parade and a large tailgate, drawing tens of thousands of attendees each year. This event provided Shipt with an opportunity to increase brand awareness and engage directly with the community.
Shipt is a same-day delivery service that connects customers with personal shoppers to deliver groceries, household essentials, and more directly to their doorsteps. Through their app or website, customers can shop from partnered retailers, place orders, and receive items within hours.
I worked with Joe Waters and Masoud Torabinejad to design and execute the activation experience. Our booth included:
-
A shaded area with charging stations and refreshments for attendees.
-
A photo booth where attendees could take pictures and have them sent to their phones.
-
The “Shopper Chopper,” a giant shopping cart displayed at the tailgate and in the parade.
-
The “Bag the Groceries” game, where participants competed for prizes at different levels.
This activation was designed to provide an enjoyable experience while also introducing attendees to Shipt’s services.
